Cassowary Spotting Guide: A Quest through the Remarkable Daintree Rainforest

In this wildlife adventure vlog, I search for cassowaries, other Daintree rainforest animals, and Australian plant species in Australia's Daintree rainforest!

It’s finally here! My Daintree Rainforest Wildlife Adventure Vlog

I filmed this rainforest vlog pre-pandemic, when studying Daintree rainforest plant species in Tropical North Queensland, Australia, as part of my Masters in Tropical Forest Ecology.

The Daintree Rainforest Australia

The Daintree Rainforest is considered the oldest tropical rainforest in the world, which means there are many ancient species that exist here and nowhere else on the planet!

Once inside, whether driving the narrow winding road to reach Cape Tribulation (where the rainforest meets the reef!) or hiking along it’s many trails, you feel as though you’ve been transported back in time, or into a Jurassic Park movie (just without the dinosaurs!).

Rainforest Scientist Vlog

I spent most of my time in the Daintree rainforest in a crane above the canopy, measuring the gas exchange of Rainforest plant species. On weekends or days where my fieldwork got rained out, I liked to go exploring this beautiful tropical rainforest.

I loved traversing the different rainforest boardwalks and trails, and wanted to share this phenomenal tropical ecosystem with the world!

I decided to film a dawn-till-dusk vlog, waking up at 5 am and marching off into the wilderness to share what I love with you; the Daintree rainforest, until sunset!

This isn’t just any wildlife adventure vlog, it’s also a scientist vlog! As a conservationist, I wanted to share not only the beauty of the rainforest, but also the science behind what makes it beautiful; how do rainforest plant species grow? What sort of Daintree rainforest wildlife can be found? What’s special about this Australia rainforest?

So join me on my scientist adventure and learn all about this insanely biodiverse ecosystem by watching my vlog. Don’t forget to leave a thumbs up and a comment if you enjoyed it! This let’s me know to make more content like this (or not!), and subscribe to my channel if you’d like to see more wildlife adventures!

Check out the gallery below for some more photos of this amazing ecosystem. Let me know in the comments if I’ve convinced you to add the Daintree rainforest to your post-coronavirus bucket list!
