Where do I find wildlife work?

If this is a question you find yourself asking, then I filmed this YouTube video for you!

What types of wildlife work are there?

There is an enormous variety of wildlife jobs out there, and whether you’re aiming for a career as a wildlife biologist or just want to find a way to work in conservation or with wild animals, there are many ways to find the roles that will get you there.

Don’t pay to work

Unfortunately, as there are so many people who want to work in this field and so many organisations willing to take advantage of people’s passions, a lot of wildlife volunteering and conservation internships offered (which are often needed before you can land your first job) actually charge a fee, which can often be thousands of pounds.

(Listen to this episode of Stephanie Schuttler’s (AKA Fancy Scientist’s) podcast where I was a guest to hear my learned opinion on why this is bullshit.)

Find genuine wildlife jobs

I’m on a mission to make working in wildlife and conservation more accessible, affordable, and achievable.

To get started, watch my YouTube video on Where to Find Wildlife Work, where I talk through the best places online where you can find genuine wildlife jobs, internships, and volunteering opportunities. All links are provided in the description!

Don’t forget, my Global Nature Jobs Board provides a continually updated list of new nature jobs, internships, volunteering opportunities, and PhD and Postdoc positions to help you find legitimate and valuable wildlife work opportunities. No fee-based roles allowed!

You can sign up to the mailing list to get sent round an updated list of roles each week.
